Argentina is the country which released most Rita Pavone singles between 1963 and 1967. Not even Italy can match that feat.
Argentine RCA Victor management made a point of releasing album-tracks like 'Abbiamo 16 anni' (B-side of 'Il ballo del mattone'), 'Somigli ad un'oca' b/w 'Quando sogno' (On the sunny side of the street), 'Splish splash' (originally recorded by Bobby Darin) b/w 'Lipstick on you collar' (originally recorded by Connie Francis) that had never been singles anywhere else in the world.
Besides releasing those obscure album-tracks as singles, Argentines also released a German-language song 'Wenn ich ein Junge wär'' that was only meant for Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
On top of that, Argentine RCA Victor also released Spanish-language versions of Pavone's 'Remember me' (Te imploro amor) b/w 'Just once more' which became 'Pido paz' which went all the way to # 1 in the charts. Let's not forget 'Viva la papa con tomate' which was the Spanish version of 'Viva la pappa col pomodoro'.
A few weeks before Rita left RCA Italiana for Ricordi, the Argentine manager still had time to score a last goal: he released 'Questo nostro amore' which had been completely overlooked by Brazilians, for instance.
