After giving a long interview to Oggi's journalist Paolo Occhipinti aka John Foster, in late January 1965, which would only be published on 11 March 1965, whilst the TV series 'Il giornalino di Gian Burrasca' was still being aired by RAI-Uno, with a huge national audience, Rita departs to Germany where these photos were taken in Berlin.
Rita at the Berlin Airport on 6 February 1965, while in Italy which was utterly beholden to the escapades of Gian Burrasca (Johnny Hurricane), they watched the last chapter of the 8-instalment mini-series that entranced the whole country. Rita plays a troublesome boy in a boys' school in the turn of the 20th Century. Kids thought Rita was a boy, indeed. Her popularity that had initially peaked in 1963 and webbed in 1964, went back up the top in early 1965.
From Berlin, Rita flew across the Atlantic Ocean to New York City. On 25 February 1965, a Thursday, Rita recorded 'Watch what you do with my baby' and 'Eyes of mine' (Occhi miei) in Nashville, Tennessee, under the guidance of producer & guitar virtuoso Chet Atkins. Actually, Rita only sang the words in English on top of a playback of 'Occhi miei' which had been recorded in Rome, orchestrated by Ennio Morricone. Next day, 26 February 1965, Rita recorded 3 more songs produced by Mr Atkins: 'Wait 'til tomorrow', 'I don't wanna be hurt' and 'Now I lay me down to sleep'. After that, Rita went on her 2nd North American Tour, with recitals in Toronto, Canada and other American and Canadian cities.

After hardly a year had passed since Rita Pavone had taken Argentina by storm in June 1964, with her 'Datemi un martello' tour, the petite Italian volcano was back in the Pampas again. Rita arrived at Ezeiza Airport on 20 April 1965. This time Rita would sing 'Las papas con tomate' the Spanish version of 'Viva la pappa col pomodoro'; she'd also sing 'Lui' and 'Occhi miei' which hadn't been released by RCA Victor yet which showed an incongruity on part of her label.
The novelty had sort of worn off by 1965, but one can surely say her Argentine tour was pretty successful drawing crowds wherever she went. Sometimes she had to sing a few bars of 'Datemi un martello' acapella such was the enthusiasm of the masses.

Rita gives an autograph to a Russian fan in Moscow, on 1st July 1965.

'Oggi', 20 March 2025, reminisces about 60 years before when journalist Paolo Occhipinti aka John Foster interviewed Rita Pavone during a lunch offered by her manager Teddy Reno in late January 1965, a week before Rita started a tour which would take her to Germany, North America & South America.
